George ARAMPATZIS is an Assoc. Professor at the School of Production Engineering and Management (PEM) of the Technical University of Crete (TUC) and visiting Professor at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania (CIHEAM MAICh). He received his Diploma in Chemical Engineering in 1991 and his Ph.D. in 2000 from the National Technical University of Athens. Since 2018, he is a member of the academic community of the TUC, teaching “Heat Transfer” and “Fluid Mechanics” in PEM School and “ICT in Agriculture and Water Management” in CIHEAM MAICh. He is also the Coordinator of the “Industrial and Digital Innovations Research group” (indigo). His research interests focus on Smart ICT Technologies (Industry 4.0, Agriculture 4.0, Smart Greenhouses, Digital Twins, Cyber-Physical Systems), Process, System and Service Engineering (Process Modelling & Simulation, Business Process Management & Integration), Energy Systems Management (Energy Conservation & Harvesting, Renewable Energy Sources), Environmental Systems Management (Natural Resources Management, Lifer Cycle & Eco-Efficiency Assessment), Water Resources Management (Water Treatment, Demand Response, Desalination), Decision Making (Multi-Criteria Decision Making, Participatory Decision Making). He has participated in more than 30 research projects at both European and National level as a technical/scientific coordinator, work package leader and senior researcher. He is currently the Technical Coordinator of the H2020-SPIRE AquaSPICE project and the Principal Investigator for TUC and CIHEAM MAICh of four H2020 projects. He is the author of 6 academic books, 3 book chapters and of more than 70 scientific publications in international peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings.
