Project Description
The AIMPRESS project aims to promote regional cooperation among Adriatic-Ionian ports, focusing on sustainable solutions that align with Priority Axis 3 of the Interreg VI-B IPA Adriatic-Ionian 2021-2027 Transnational Cooperation Program. The project is at the forefront of environmental and operational advancements, emphasizing carbon-neutral mobility in the Adriatic-Ionian region. AIMPRESS has two fundamental goals: (i) improving environmental performance and (ii) increasing energy efficiency in ports. To achieve these objectives, the project employs innovative technologies, including digitalization, virtualization, and AI-driven solutions. One of the key technologies used is Digital Shadow technology, which optimizes port operations and supports decision-making processes. The project introduces an AI-based Energy Management System designed to facilitate efficient energy use, contributing to the strategic integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Renewable Energy Sources (RES) in port operations. AIMPRESS also develops a comprehensive “Green Smart Ports Roadmap” to guide the adoption of these advanced technologies in the maritime sector. Regional cooperation is a crucial element of AIMPRESS. The project builds a network of eleven organizations to foster transnational collaboration, knowledge exchange, and innovation. It also prioritizes training and upskilling, providing joint training programs to equip port staff with the necessary skills for implementing sustainable practices. In addition to focusing on technology and training, AIMPRESS aligns its objectives with sustainable development principles and the EU’s Adriatic-Ionian Strategy goals. By creating a network of technologically advanced and environmentally conscious ports, AIMPRESS enhances carbon-neutral mobility and promotes a future of energy-efficient maritime operations in the Adriatic-Ionian region.
